Why We Love Flickr
We have been using Flickr for the past few years to document some of the work produced by students at Fortismere. All GCSE and A-level photography students have a flickr account, which they use to store and share selected images from their coursework.
Flickr provides a secure platform for sharing and commenting on images online, whilst also making collaboration very simple through its shared and customised 'groups'. There are groups for every imaginable theme and are often a great way to share photos with a like-minded community.
As a flickr member, you are able to create a network of contacts and view their most recent photos and make comments. From a teacher's perspective, it is an enjoyable to see the progress of students and provides a quick and easy way to give formative feedback.
We would like to build up a network of schools interested in sharing images and have set up a flickr group called 'SNAP (Schools Network for Art and Photography) which can be accessed by clicking here.
If you are an art/photography teacher or student and wish to be part of a wider school arts network, please get in touch by visiting the contacts page.
