Life Drawing
Observational drawing is an important part of your development as an artist and part of the assessment at A level (Assessment Objective 3: Recording). You will have the opportunity to explore this within all of your projects however, to supplement this the Art department is also offering life drawing classes after school.
Life Drawing is an important discipline and can form part of your coursework submission in the summer. It is also crucial to include in a portfolio if you continue to an Art Foundation or degree post A levels. The Art department offers life drawing sessions after school during the Autumn term. |
Year 12
Practical Coursework
The first year of the A level Fine Art course is designed to allow you freedom to explore different approaches, techniques and materials without having to worry too much about exam criteria. There is an emphasis on making, taking risks, and learning from both your successes and disappointments.
Work will be presented in a sketchbook and / or as portfolio sheets.

Critical and Contextual Studies
In year 13 you will have to write a study on an area of your choice. In preparation for this we will be teaching you how to analyse work and introduce you to important moments in the history of Art. These sessions will be supplemented by gallery visits as appropriate.

Coursework
It goes without saying that you MUST bring your sketchbook to all practical lessons and crits. You will be asked to leave if you do not have it.
